Service

At New Heights we strive to instill in our students the importance and joy of serving others by following Jesus' example, who came to this world not to be served, but to serve. To that end, we offer numerous opportunities to practically serve others. Service comes in many forms, both organized and informal. 

Missions Week

Each year, the week before spring break, high school students devote an entire week to missions and service. Missions Week is a required part of the overall curriculum at New Heights. Students choose to travel internationally, nationally, or stay close to home and serve hometown organizations. Trips have included Mexico, Trinidad, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. Projects range from working with children in VBS-style programs to building a home, to painting, cleaning and simply being available to do whatever is asked or needed. Students are given the opportunity to get out of their normal routines and comfort zones serve others.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Each November, students and their families are asked to bring canned food items to help those in need.  Organized by the high school student council, it is always amazing to see the way our school family generously gives, so we are able to help feed others during the holidays.

Nursing Home Visits

The middle school student council organizes Christmas caroling for area nursing homes. At a time of year that can cause loneliness, our students strive to bring joy to those they encounter.

Operation Christmas Child

For many years, students have brought items to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Filled with practical and fun items, these boxes are shipped all over the world to children in poverty-stricken regions, sharing the love of Jesus at Christmastime.

Blood Drives

Students in National Honor Society partner with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to provide two blood drives annually. Faculty, students, and the community at large come together to give the precious gift of blood.

Veterans Day Observance

Middle school students write letters to local veterans living in an area nursing home. They then deliver the letters along with smiles and gratitude for their service to our country. In addition, a school-wide chapel is presented to honor local veterans.

Never Ending Effort

Though we offer many organized service efforts, other forms of service are less organized, but just as important. From staying after school to help a teacher with a project, to simply picking up trash because it needs to be done, to mentoring younger students, lifelong lessons are learned that it is indeed more blessed to give than receive.
